šŸ› ļø Entering My Build Era

Hey, howā€™s it going?

Itā€™s been a little while since I emailed you - but not to fear, I have lots of emails on the way.

First up, the Creatorā€™s Compass community has reached over 2,000 people šŸ¤Æ

Iā€™m entering my build era.

Iā€™ve had a few very early starts this week and one thing has become clear:

Those tasks youā€™re putting off can be done easily in a beautiful flow state. They might even be fun tooā€¦ crazy.

I now feel a little silly for not aligning hard work with when I feel best to complete it.

Donā€™t let this be you this week!

As a Creatorā€™s Compass reader, youā€™re somebody who wants more time off for what matters in life.

Leverage online. Love offline.

We all have visions of what we can achieve and the best way to achieve them is through deep focus.

My build era is about action and my enemies to tackle are doubt and imposter syndrome.

Three years in business šŸŽ‚

Itā€™s taken me 3 years as a business owner to finally not shy away from calling myself an entrepreneur.

I used to feel so uncomfortable for a few reasons:

  • Iā€™d limit the word entrepreneur to the Musks and Jeff Bezosā€™ of the world
  • Iā€™d feel inferior to other, more experienced, business owners
  • I resonated more with ā€œbeing entrepreneurialā€ e.g. starting a business is an action I took, rather than identifying with the noun entrepreneur

Now, I define being an entrepreneur more lightly as:

  • Somebody who goes against the grain
  • Somebody who takes risks (action doesnā€™t lead to immediate reward)
  • Somebody who examines how the world works and questions all assumptions on how things ā€œshould beā€

This isnā€™t a complete definition (yet) but hereā€™s something I know to be true:

Every single entrepreneur has faced a period of pain.

Business is TOUGH.

Self-employed? OK cool, you likely feel the constant stress to get clients and to put food on the table for your family.

Have a team? OK cool, you feel the pressure to keep your team happy and to ensure they are treated well.

Itā€™s really not easy.

Iā€™ve had my fair share of mistakes, failures and painful lessons learned. My personalised experience has been sleepless nights, grey hairs starting at 24 (šŸ˜¢ ) and a lot of stress.

I know now that life has its seasons.

Sometimes weā€™re called to roll up our sleeves and grind. Other times we need to rest and reflect.

I know that anyone who is successful in business has gotten there through hard work. Hard work is the minimum requirement.

  • If youā€™re going after a vision, I respect you.
  • If youā€™re resting right now to look after yourself, I respect you.
  • If youā€™re deeply learning who you are, and why youā€™re here, I respect you.

Weā€™re 2,000 people strong now in this community and I want this to become my lifeā€™s work. Maybe you can tell from this newsletter how much the topic of alignment means to me, and how Iā€™m truly in your corner.

Creatorā€™s Compass is more than content creation. Itā€™s a community of people following their passions and trying to grow as individuals.
