Minimalism has been gaining traction in recent years.
And honestly, it makes a lot of sense.
Modern life is so busy that the idea of being able to simplify our day-to-day (without sacrificing quality) is hard to resist.
But what if instead of decluttering your house or thinning out your wardrobe, you applied the exact same principles to your content creation workflow?
Let’s find out.
Yes. Top creators do post 5 times a week.
But they don’t do it just to fill a slot.
Intentional, high-quality content not only engages your audience better but also enhances your brand image and credibility.
Remember, it's about making every post count, not just increasing post counts.
A good practice before hitting the publish button could be asking yourself: “Is this post something I would consume?”
If your answer is no, your post most probably doesn’t have enough value and you might want to take a step back and consider a different approach.
For example, I now ask myself: “Would a 7-figure entrepreneur take value from this?” This helps me gauge if my content is easy to consume, of high-value, and if it will ultimately help somebody achieve a result.
Just as minimalists repurpose their stuff all the time, you should frequently "reuse" your content.
Repurposing involves taking existing content and adapting it for different platforms, formats, or audiences.
Remember that one blog post you put so much effort into and ended up not performing as expected? What if you could turn it into a carousel or even a long-form video?
This approach maximizes the value of your content, giving it new life and extending its reach while saving time and resources.
For example, I plan to turn every newsletter I write into a YouTube video in the future. Sure I’ll package it up so that it’s optimised for YouTube, but can each email be the first draft of a script?
Of course, it can. That plants two trees with one seed.
Much like the minimalist approach to buying second-hand stuff, you can find and share the best of what’s out there and deliver it to your audience in a more organised and digestible way.
By carefully selecting and sharing existing content from various sources that aligns with your audience's interests, you provide a lot value and establish yourself as a reliable source of information in your niche.
Don’t forget to add your unique touch every time!
You’ll never reach the state of flow that turns you into a content machine if you’re constantly checking your phone.
To mitigate this, set screen time limits, disable notifications, and use app blocking software so you can focus on creating.
Researching high-quality content ideas the old-fashioned way can be messy and time-consuming.
By using the right prompts, you can generate hundreds of content ideas in a matter of seconds.
Don’t let those clever comments go to waste - engage often with your audience to produce user-generated content.
This not only adds diversity and authenticity to your platform but also builds a stronger connection with your audience.
It fosters a sense of community and involvement, making your followers feel valued and heard.
If a particular subject resonates with your audience, don’t be afraid to create a similar piece of content later – while adding a fresh take, of course!
Whether it’s a Notion page or just a good old notebook, having a dedicated place to log all your ideas means you don't have to spend time and energy trying to recall an interesting concept you thought of days or weeks ago.
This reduces mental clutter and makes room for more focused thinking.
In minimalism, the focus is on what's essential and brings value to your life, while letting go of the rest.
This principle also applies to managing your daily tasks.
Keep your to-do list short (no more than 5 items) and use the Eisenhower Matrix to identify your priorities for the day and remove excess tasks that don’t really move the needle for you.
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Sometimes the simplest things can lead to the biggest breakthroughs. If you don’t change something, you’ll stay on the current path that you’re on.
Whether it’s being unhappy with your habits, routine or circumstances, unless action is taken (which can be small) you’ll “continue to get what you’ve always got”.
